Tot volgend jaar... Until next year.......

This is really the last blog of this year. Last week I saw it by Joanne and thought it should be fun to make it, the blocks are so cute, also by size [3 inch finished]. Couldn’t resisted and had a little pile of some blue fabric laying [actually there are 2 piles, so enough for this project]. These are easy blocks to make. For everyone who reads this blog, I wish you a happy new year and a healthy with a lot of froebel 2012 to.

Now the story of making mine swapquilt for Cathryn. Take a cup of tea because it is not what you call a “short story”. Way back [2009] I saw a beautiful quilt [link] being made by Jacquie [link] from Tallgrass prairie Studio [link]. She promised that someday it will become a pattern. On a previous  swap project I found out that in America they love the Dutch fabric a lot. So I decided to make Jacquie’s pattern small and a little bit my own.
First one where the harts, I have something with them and stars. Then the log cabin blocks are on. Because it is al paper pieced the is a lot of waste.
It is always fun to see a quilt [big ore small} grow. When the top is done hang it up and admire it, ore disapprove it. In this chase it is disapprove, something is wrong whit it but what? I cant see it but luckily for me there is internet and most important Lucy [link]. Quickly send a picture and of course she saw it. So with a big help from Lucy I was able to go along. Thanks Lucy for that.
Also forgot to give the quilt a uniform appearance. [with other words forgot to put an extra row on it] After removing the wrong part of the quilt I could go on happily. One hart I used for the backside. Want it to be at the same place as one hart on the front. Not that easy to accomplish with the filling in between. As usually my label is sewn in the backside
It is quilted by hand. Binding sewn on the front by machine and on the back by hand. The washing was a scary part because of the red fabric. But with 6 color catch wipes it went alright. Marco went to the USA and took the packages with him. Now Cathryn has it I can show it to you.
Gelukkig ging alles goed.
She is very pleased with it especially the little shoes form porcelain. Me I have had mixed feelings about this one. Sometimes when I looked at it I thought it was to busy and at other times I liked it the way it is. Eventually I think this pattern looks better when it is made big. This one is over more than 300 pieces. Have a nice day ♥

Sometimes I told you a little bit about the one on one swap. The swap was organised by the smalquilttalk (link) forum. My swap partner is Cathryn from Oregon of the USA, she really spoiled me. After mailing back and forward, so we get to know a little bit about each other we start making ore mini quilt. She should make mine in pink and brown and the one I should make for her would be a surprise. The package I received from her is here for a while but I promised not to open it until she got mine. She got mine now so I can show you what she made for me.
There was a hart in the box filled with lavender, it is hanging on the [toilet]  door. And every time when the door opens it spread that lovely lavender smell. Lets be honest sometimes it is very necessary. A very beautiful mini quilt [21”x27”] in a lovely pink and brown. It is been quilted by hand with tiny stitches.
The fabric on the back has little stars. I am so happy to put it by my little quilt collection. Cathryn gave me also some beautiful fabric, and some of it will definitely be used for the new rage (link) in blog[quilt]land.
Fijn weekend ♥
Cathryn thank you very much for being my swap partner, I really, really love the quilt. Thanks. Have a nice weekend. ♥
Part 2 will be here on Monday / Deel 2 verschijnt hier op maandag.

Verzamelen!!! Collecting!!!

Tja, we {Suzanne & ik} doen het weer. Weleens waar met hele kleine stapjes {eentje per maand ongeveer} sparen we de siggies weer.
Yes, we {Suzanne and me} are doing it again. Not that fast {maby one in about four weeks} but we are collecting them again. I did received the red one and Suzanne the other one. We switched them, she is more of the red and I am more a blue collector.  Have a nice day ♥
Fijne dag verder. ♥

Quilt-Jacking ---Get the Word Out!

Quilt-Jacking ---Get the Word Out!

This morning I received a note from Sue who told me about Sharon’s devastating news that her quilt disappeared after being shown in Houston. It is not a misplaced shipment --- the quilt went missing before shipping.
She writes:
I’m hoping you can post this information and picture on the on-line quilt group you’re with. I just found out that my “Really ‘Wild’ Flowers! Second Season” quilt went missing the day after the Houston show and I’m devastated and heart-broken beyond words. I’m offering a cash reward for its safe return, no questions asked. I would just like to have my quilt back home. The size is 62” x 64.5”.

Please urge each of the gals to send the information out to their own personal contacts as well if you would.

Thank you so much,
~ Sharon
If you have seen this quilt, please contact Sharon Schlotzhauer.
Sharon, being one who has to ship quilts often, and travel with them often, I feel your horror and devastation over your missing quilt. I hope we can find it and return it to you in short order!!
Everyone, please get the word out! I hate the thought of Quilts being stolen or missing for any reason.

Week 27 of the FWQAL

96 Tulip
On the copy with alone the blocks no colour you can see what I have made so far, four less then it should be.  Total blocks 50, 15 of them are already been put together.
21 Contrary Wife
Fijn weekend ♥
87 Star Gardener
It is going nice and now that I have the fabric for the corner stones, I can put some rows together. On the last picture there are 35 blocks. Have a nice weekend ♥
